When Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman physician in the United States, graduated from medical school in 1849, I bet she would little suspect the number of women who would be physicians today or that a month would be dedicated to celebrating our contributions.
The board of directors of the Foundation of CCMS is pleased to announce the winners of its 2021 Foundation Healthcare Scholarship awards: Natalia Correa, Emily Gansert, Charissa Obeng-Nyarko, and Yordan Urrutia. Each student will receive a $5,000 scholarship.

Dr. Rebekah Bernard, outgoing president passed the gavel to Dr. Alejandro Perez-Trepichio, who began his one-year term as the 64th CCMS board president at the virtual meeting on July 24th. CCMS postponed its in-person celebration to help keep its members and their families safe during the current COVID-19 surge and help ensure continuity of care for patients.

Many in our community have questions regarding the safety, efficacy, and necessity of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. A local coalition of healthcare leaders is stepping forward together to help answer these questions and demonstrate that for an overwhelming majority of people, the COVID-19 vaccines are a safe and critical element in ending the pandemic.
Dr. Mark Russo, M.D., Ph.D. is the recipient of the 7th Annual CCMS Physician of the Year Award. This award honors a CCMS member who deserves special recognition for exemplary contributions to the practice of medicine and/or outstanding service to our community.

Registration is open now through April 6th. Participants can win bottles of wine and/or whiskey while helping support scholarships to future medical professionals and funding for local healthcare programs in need.
Our Foundation is accepting applications through March 31, 2021 for two scholarship award programs: the Dr. William Lascheid Memorial Scholarship for medical students and Healthcare Student Scholarships for students enrolled in or accepted to healthcare degree programs.
